Post #2: Roadrunners Lose Final Game of Showcase

The Topeka Roadrunners finished their trip to the NAHL Showcase with a 1-0 loss to the Aberdeen Wings.  Giving up a shorthanded goal in the second period was all it took to send the squad’s overall record to 5-2 on the season.  After a 3-0 start, the Roadrunners have gone 2-2 outside of Landon Arena.  They will return home for the next four games and look to build off of early success at the Kansas Expocentre.  The team will be in action on Friday and Saturday the next two weekends for two games against Springfield and two games against the Lone Star Brahmas. Springfield enters their series 3-2 and the Brahmas are currently 1-5 on the season.  All games begin at 7:15 and feature a night of fun for those in attendance.

Post #1: Roadrunners Open Season With 10 Points

The Roadrunners opened the 2013-2014 season on a high note with three wins at home. They won games in consecutive nights against the Corpus Christi Ice Rays, then won a single contest against the Odessa Jackalopes in a 6-0 effort. Following the home stand, the team made a trip to Minnesota for the NAHL Showcase. So far the team is 2-1 at the showcase, improving their overall record to 5-1.  The team will play one more game against Aberdeen before returning to Landon Arena for two games against Springfield and two games against the Lone Star Brahmas. Through six games, the standout offensive threat has been Tyler Poulsen who has netted 3 goals, and also assisted on 3 others.  Jerad Tafoya has contributed 3 goals and both James Ring and Mike Gornall have 5 assists early on this season.  The ‘Runners have started two goaltenders and both have a shutout to their credit. However, it appears that the starter will be Drew Vogler who has 93 saves thus far in 4 starts.  The team will return to Topeka for a matchup against the Jr. Blues next Friday, with the first puck dropping at 7:15.
