Post #12: New Team In Topeka

The Roadrunners are no longer the only team playing hockey in Landon Arena.  A team has been established in the North American 3 Hockey League, which is the tier three version of the NAHL.  The Topeka Capitals started playing games in the Kansas Expocentre in October.  The Roadrunners play in the NAHL, so this new team could potentially feed them future players as they develop through the Capitals.  The growth of hockey in Topeka is something that shows great potential for the sport in our city.  With the semi professional organizations, youth hockey has opportunities to become more prominent.  Topeka has the opportunity to become a hub for hockey, and this all starts with the efforts of the Roadrunners and Capitals organizations.

Post #11: Halloween Weekend Is Not Kind to Roadrunners

The Topeka Roadrunners will be having nightmares, but not about monsters, after their rough Halloween weekend.  The squad was in action for the first and second days of November against the Amarillo Bulls at the Civic Center.  The Roadrunners were held scoreless for the entire 6 periods, 2 hours, or two evenings they were out on the ice. They conceded 6 total goals, 4 in the first game and 2 in the second game.  This will be a weekend to forget for the 10-8-2 Roadrunners as they move on to play the last three games of their road trip.  The ‘Runners have had a tough outing away from home as they have won 4 games, but lost 5 games as well.  They will return home to Landon Arena in three weeks, on November 21^st, for their first home game in nearly a month and a half. 

Post #10: 'Runners Split Weekend Series

The Roadrunners wrapped up their two game series with the Springfield Jr. Blues this past weekend, splitting series by winning game one and losing game two.  PJ Bridges got his first start between the pipes, eventually securing the shutout, giving the ‘Runners a 3-0 win in Friday night game. Sam Rennaker scored the first goal, which was his second on the season.  Two more goals were added by Fernsler and Groat to secure the 3-0 shutout victory.  In the Saturday game, the Runners struggled to get a whole lot going offensively, dropping the game 4-1.  Tyler Poulsen had the lone goal for the Roadrunners whose record goes to 10-6-2 following the win and loss in Springfield.

Post #9: Roadrunners Lead at the Second Intermission

The Topeka Roadrunners are continuing their 12-game road trip tonight as they begin a two game series at Nelson Center with the Springfield Jr. Blues.  The game is in progress and Topeka has the lead at the first intermission off of a goal by Sam Rennaker.  Clint Garris picked up his second assist of the year on the Rennaker goal.  Wichita Falls, ahead of the ‘Runners by one point in the South Division, is currently tied at 2-2 with Corpus Christi.  This gives the Topeka a potential first place standing if they can take care of business, and Wichita Falls drops a game.  As of now the it is the second intermission in Springfield with Topeka still on top with a 1-0 lead.  For the latest updates on the game follow @topekahockey on Twitter.
