The Topeka Roadrunners are continuing their 12-game road
trip tonight as they begin a two game series at Nelson Center with the
Springfield Jr. Blues. The game is in
progress and Topeka has the lead at the first intermission off of a goal by Sam
Rennaker. Clint Garris picked up his
second assist of the year on the Rennaker goal.
Wichita Falls, ahead of the ‘Runners by one point in the South Division,
is currently tied at 2-2 with Corpus Christi.
This gives the Topeka a potential first place standing if they can take
care of business, and Wichita Falls drops a game. As of now the it is the second intermission
in Springfield with Topeka still on top with a 1-0 lead. For the latest updates on the game follow @topekahockey on Twitter.

Post #8: Roadrunners Finish Series With Win
The Roadrunners won their final contest of a three game
series against the Odessa Jackalopes last Saturday in thrilling fashion. Jake Kamrass netted a powerplay goal in the
first period to give the ‘Runners a goal advantage at the first
intermission. Both teams added a goal in
the second period, with Topeka’s being scored by Jasen Fernsler, who had just
one goal coming into the game. Odessa
tied up the game at 2-2 one minute into the third period. Topeka’s penalty kill held the Jackalopes from scoring on the man advantage twice and the breakthrough came with 16 seconds remaining in the game. Tyler Poulsen came up with a game winning
powerplay goal to bring the final tally to 3-2, improving the Roadrunners record to (9-5-2). Topeka is in second place
in the division, just one point back of Wichita Falls.

Post #6: Runners Drop Game Two of Series
The Roadrunners split their series against the Lone Star
Brahmas this weekend, winning the game on Friday and losing the second game of
the series on Saturday. The Runners came
out firing on all cylinders scoring a goal in just 11 seconds after the opening
drop of the puck. Tyler Poulsen, who
assisted on the first goal by Michal Uhrik, added a powerplay goal minutes
later to take the Topeka lead to 2-0. Over
the next 16 minutes the Brahmas scored 4 unanswered goals to stun the Roadrunners,
who came in to the series tied for first place in the division. The Runners cut the deficit to one with about
four minutes remaining in the game, but gave up an empty net goal to bring the
final score of the contest to 5-3 in favor of Lone Star (2-7-1). Topeka picked up a win and a loss on the
weekend bringing their overall record to 6-3-2 for the 2013-2014
season. The Runners are still tied for
first place in the division with Wichita Falls at 14 points, but Wichita has
played one less game. This upcoming
weekend the Roadrunners will face the third place team in the division, the
Amarillo Bulls, in a two game series.
These games began a twelve game road trip away from Landon Arena.
In the spirit of “Pink the Rink”, I was given
a festive wig to support those fighting breast cancer. The pink jerseys the team wore for the two
game series this past weekend were auctioned off to raise money for research
for those afflicted with such a hardship.
