The Roadrunners needed a win, and tonight was the ideal time for them to get another tally in the win column. Their opponent came in with 1 win through 8 games, and the Roadrunner faithful were behind their team despite poor weather conditions. Everything was looking good for the squad until it came time to actually play the game. Topeka dominated the shots on goal statistic all night, but an early strike from the Lone Star Brahmas put the Roadrunners in a trailing position to the worst team in their division. An equalizer from Jake Kamrass in the second period put some life back into the team and the hometown crowd. Going into the third period it was tied 2-2 as both teams added another goal. Clint Garris came up with the game winning goal with about 3 minutes left in the game off of a great cut to the net from the weak side. An empty netter was added with 5 seconds left to bring the Roadrunners' victory to a score of 4-2. The first win in 3 games, the team is now tied for the top spot in their division with 14 points. The team will be back in action to play the second game of the series tomorrow night at 7:15. The "Pink the Rink" promotion will end with the auctioning of all pink game jerseys worn in the two game series after the game concludes.
